How to find the right lights to match the climate you live in

Efficient landscape lighting Houston Tx depends on so many things and climate is one of them. The climate affects the visibility at night. Also humidity and the wetness of the region determine the kind of fixtures that can be used for that particular region. It is important to have fixtures that can withstand the blunt of the elements that it is exposed to outside. There is need therefore to choose the right kind of lights that will match the climate you live in. Here are some things to consider.
UL ratings – the ratings determine the suitability of the lighting fixtures for dry, damp or wet conditions. Lighting that is listed for dry should only be used indoors in places except in the bathroom where the conditions are mostly not dry. An outdoor lighting fixture for outdoor use should be rated either damp or wet. A damp location is one that is prone to accumulation of moisture or condensation every now and then. Damp locations include locations outside or inside in the bathrooms and utility rooms.
The fixtures rated for damp conditions cannot however withstand highly wet conditions which is what the third rating is for. Fixtures rated for the wet conditions are the most withstanding. They can be used in extremely wet conditions and will not cause problems or electrocution. They will have all the wires and cables encased in the fixture to protect them from the wet conditions. If the climate is mostly wet most of the year, it is important to have outdoor lighting that is rated for wet conditions.
Material – outdoor materials are made of many kinds of materials ranging from brass, cast aluminum, copper and ceramic. The best material for the harsh kind of weather would be brass and ceramic. Ceramic materials give the lighting a beautiful finish while still ensuring that they are weather proof. Aluminum should not be used in coastal regions because it corrodes easily in such conditions.
Kind of finish – ensure that the material you pick has also been given a superb weather finish. When exposed to the elements even materials like brass will corrode overtime. It is important that they have the finish that ensures that they can withstand the climatic conditions you are exposed to.
Kind of bulb – the lighting should have a bulb that shines bright in the weather it is exposed to. For instance LED lights are known to shine better when the weather is cold. If you live in a cold region, then having LED bulbs for your lighting will be most efficient. Most fixtures can hold any kind of bulb but when considering solar lamps it is best that they have LED lights for cold weather and also because they will shine brighter and longer on battery power.
